“The Ghost of Johnny Cash” by Todd Snider added to Modern Folk Songs

We added the song “The Ghost of Johnny Cash” by Todd Snider to the Modern Folk Songs playlist.

Todd Snider recently released a new album that he recorded in an old log cabin that Johnny Cash built which is now a recording studio. The inspiration for this song is really interesting. In 2016, Loretta Lynn recorded her album Full Circle at the cabin and claimed she saw the deceased Cash walk into the studio while she was singing. When Lynn (Loretta Lynn Official) and Snider cowrote a song in 2015, Snider began having a recurring dream about Cash.

These experiences inspired to record his latest album Cash Cabin Sessions, Vol. 3 at the cabin. They also inspired the 7th track on the album “The Ghost of Johnny Cash,” which sings of Lynn dancing with Cash’s ghost outside the studio in the middle of the night.

There are some great articles about the new album on Rolling Stone and Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries websites.
