The Vices – So It Goes

The Vices - So It Goes

Established at the end of 2018, The Netherland’s own, The Vices bring their own form of indie goodness to us via their debut single, So It Goes. The track is an amalgamation of styles and genres that the band successfully melds into one cohesive statement. Sure, So It Goes travels the path of The Growlers or The Strokes but it infuses reggae meter and luscious surf guitar throughout.

Guitar aficionados: The Vices are coming strong with that hollow body, Bigsby lovin’, reverb-drenched tone that we all salivate over; we can’t help but fall in love. The juxtaposition of the lead guitar part with its indie tremolo tone is an interesting pairing with the surf guitar parts; it all makes sense when the track is underway. Vocally, So It Goes provides yet another texture. Its purposeful, lo-fi production adds an edginess and a haunting overtone to the entire track; it’s delivered perfectly and sometimes gives a nod to the Black Keys along the way.

This is one of those tracks that should be the theme for some new Netflix series or movie intro; it has that much commercial appeal while still retaining its indie stature. For a relatively new band, playing the festival circuit and a hip new single right out of the gates, is a fine place to be. We look forward to future releases and other sonic minglings from The Vices.
