O the Fool is a brand new indie rock band from Massachusetts brothers Eric and Ethan Robbins. The duo released their debut single ‘Better’ on April 1st in the midst of the quarantine, showing that even when things are dire, we need good music.
Eric, 23, has a history of producing music (he released a 15 song album called ‘Never Give Up’ in 2018), but this is 19-year-old Ethan’s first release. Both brothers write, compose, and sing, while Eric plays a long list of instruments and produces the project in the brothers’ home.
Their goal is to blur the lines of genre by taking what they enjoy from many different eras and styles of music, most notably indie rock, pop, rock and roll, jazz, and folk. Some of their influences are Panic! At the Disco, Frank Sinatra, Arctic Monkeys, and Mumford & Sons.
Their first single, ‘Better’, leans more towards the Frank Sinatra side of things, pairing Eric’s mid-century vocal style with a moderate tempo and brass section. You can expect a more modern sound when their second song releases on May 11th, as well as a different voice: Ethan sings lead vocals for the first time ever.
With a successful first single launch and another already just around the corner, as well as a brand new merch site, O the Fool is definitely a name to look out for in the indie rock scene.
