We sat down with Lea to talk about his recent release Hurricane and talk music in general.

Where do you come from?

I grew up in a small city in Argentina, son of an Italian father and Argentinian mother so that shaped my personality. I would say that mix of backgrounds influenced my music as well.

Tell us about your track Hurricane. What's the process behind it, how did it come together & why did you write this song?

My first single of 2022 is called “Hurricane” and I wrote that song based on a past relationship that I had when I was not expecting to meet anyone and suddenly this person came into my life to rock my world.

I wrote the song on an acoustic guitar and then working with the producer we developed a sound and a direction more orientated to soft rock with some 90's vibe production but adding contemporary sounds. I think we have done a pretty good job on that one!

Describe your creative process when you write new music

I tend to co-write with other songwriters and we usually start with a lyric idea. Most of the times something that I brought to the table and we start developing the lyrics from there. Once we got the first draft we move to the music.

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

When I was a kid I used to go visit my grandma and my older cousin was living there. He was a rock guitarist and I was always sneaking into his room to play his guitar. It all started there. Later in life, he became my guitar teacher.

What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

I had the chance of learning from successful songwriters and one of them gave me the most precious advice. He said to me “Always write from your heart” and I've been honoring that.

Which instrument is your favorite to play and why?

I'm a guitarist and I fell in love with the instrument since I was a kid. I also like to play bass and I would love to learn how to play piano, but that's gonna take me ages.

What do you like most about playing music?

It's really hard to explain with words but when I'm playing I feel I'm in a different dimension and everything is perfect there. Probably you can spot that on my face.

What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety?

I actually don't have it. Music is natural in me and it's my passion.

Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

I love writing songs, I just fell in love with the process. What I don't love so much is dealing with the music business but when you are a DIY musician you have no option at all.
