The Santiago-based artists turn their latest collaboration into an early glimpse of the experimentation, visual storytelling and new sounds shaping their upcoming work.
Santiago-based pop artist Reindr joins forces with Chilean artist and producer A. Mateo on “Destina2,” an alternative pop duet that marks the beginning of a new creative period for both musicians.
Built around electronic production, guitar textures, pop melodies and processed vocals, the track brings both performers into the same narrative rather than treating either voice as a secondary feature. Their contrasting performances give “Destina2” the feeling of an actual exchange between two people, allowing the song to move naturally between intimacy, tension and release.
“The song wasn’t initially conceived as a duet, but once we began working on it together, it became something of its own,” explains A. Mateo. “It stopped feeling like one person’s song with somebody else added to it. The two voices became equally important to what the track was trying to communicate.”
The release offers an early glimpse of the directions both artists plan to explore in their forthcoming material. For Reindr, it introduces a new era shaped by collaboration, experimentation and a developing visual narrative. For A. Mateo, “Destina2” marks a return to producing music for other performers while continuing to develop his own genre-fluid project.
That wider narrative is already visible in the single’s artwork. Drawing from the striking imagery and psychological science fiction associated with Neon Genesis Evangelion, the cover introduces the first elements of a broader lore surrounding Reindr’s comeback—one that will continue to unfold through future releases.
“We wanted to put this song out as a way of showing where we’re both heading without turning it into a huge formal announcement,” says A. Mateo. “There are new sounds we want to explore and more collaborations already taking shape. This felt like the right place to begin.”
“Destina2” also reconnects the pair after their previous involvement in “Amo A Quien Me Hace Mal,” released by Reindr and Namuel under the name LGBTriste. The track was produced by KennyChops and A. Mateo, establishing a creative relationship that now enters a new stage through a more direct collaboration between Reindr and A. Mateo themselves.
Based in Santiago, Reindr has become a familiar presence in Chile’s independent queer pop scene, joining a generation of artists reshaping the city’s DIY landscape alongside names such as Barbacius, Noah Blanco and Kevz.
A. Mateo is a Chilean independent artist, producer and songwriter whose music moves between electronic production, guitar textures, rap-influenced rhythms and digitally processed vocals. Working in English and Spanish, he approaches each release without committing to a single genre.
