Having graduated in the lead up to the Y2K era, Magdalene Marx found herself obsessively crunching numbers in the oil and mining industry for the next 15 years waiting for the alleged doomsday to arrive. Her roles as lawyer, analyst and financial analyst found her constantly gleaning through rows upon rows of numbers, statistics and data to hypothesise and project outcomes on the landscape at large. It turns out the robots do take over civilisation as we know it but they were never the threat. The revelation eventually lead to her applying the same fine-tooth comb on her life and career. An impromptu sign-up to a workshop to learn about weaving in an attempt to demystify the Gordian Knot ignited a rebellion within. A Bohemia Life is the collision point of a Venn diagram by which Magdalene expresses her work as an aphotic photographer, writer and maker.
