Harry Bodley Scott – Times of our Lives – Indie Music Contest April 2020

Times of our Lives is about finding ourselves, our place in the world and our happiness. I think all of us, for whatever reason, have experienced periods of darkness; we have all had to contend with feelings of incompleteness, loneliness or inadequacy. We all know the hollow and cold of a broken heart. But something wonderful about us humans is that we hurt and hope in equal measure. For every second of sorrow, there’s one of pure joy. This world can be a truly beautiful place. Whilst in previous years my music has sometimes come from darker places, recently it has become more and more about recapturing the light. I have found that happiness comes not as a result of success, prestige or the actualisation of some grand ambition, but from simpler things; laughter, long lucid nights around log fires, and love in all its forms. And, of course, the notion that whatever may be happening will happen, at least for a little while, and then it will all be alright again.
