The Hashmarks - Black day - Indie Music Contest Spring 2023

"Black day" is The Hashmarks' absolute debut with an unreleased track. Written by keyboardist Riccardo Dell'Aversana, author of the music and lyrics, "Black day" was recorded in 2022 and recalls the last moments of life of a soldier shot to death in the trenches. The early bewilderment he feels for his life moving away from him gives way to an inner peace: in a few moments, he awares that the black days are now gone. Blindness madly marking our daily existences vanish before the ineluctability of the end. A way to reflect on the value we should give to life, which deserves to be lived with different feelings and motivations. The song's hard vibes develop along the musical coordinates of the initial bass riff, which is slightly varied in the middle of the piece. The reprise starts from this variation, through a progressive accumulation of tension up to the climax which coincides with Pandalone's magnificent guitar solo. Thanks to Antonia Salzano for the great vocal work. These are the band members: Francesco Cecaro, bass guitar Riccardo Dell'Aversana, keyboards Walter Pandalone, electric guitar Rosario Sanguini, drums Special guest on vocals: Antonia Salzano
