Aymee Weir – Good Times

This song is surprising and extremely well put together. It can be hard to balance the boldness of the electronic music with the underlying tone, but the song remains peaceful and easy to digest.

Aymee Weir

Aymee Weir shows how amazing mixing genres can be in her single Good Times with minimal pop sounds and heavy electric instrumentals. The song travels from our everyday pop to 1980s techno throughout.

While the initial beat of the track is quite slow and calm, the electronic motifs pick the pace and give it an edge. Her harmonies compliment the electric instrumentals well and display more depth.Β  The pop side to the song has an Ellie Goulding feel – folk influences and a carefree vibe which seems to be an unusual mix with the other side of the song, yet the contrast works greatly.

Her unique voice helps to bring together the two mixing genres and maintains the calming feel. She adds emotion to the song through her changing voice, especially when the music cuts out to reveal her singing. The changes in pace and dropping of the tune really let us focus on her vocals and the lyrics.

This song is surprising and extremely well put together. It can be hard to balance the boldness of the electronic music with the underlying tone, but the song remains peaceful and easy to digest. The emotion of her voice isn’t overpowered by the music so its an easy listen, and a positive one too!
