New Single Release: “Wondering Why” – Out 3rd December

Italian singer-songwriter Clinamena is set to release his introspective new single, “Wondering Why”, on 3rd December. The song delves into the universal theme of human solitude—a condition that is both original and inescapable.

In “Wondering Why”, the lyrical voice addresses a friend with empathy and quiet disillusionment, inviting reflection on a truth we often avoid: we are, and always have been, fundamentally alone. The people we love or meet along our journey eventually fade, leaving only shadows in memory.

The track is a philosophical dialogue set to music, exploring the illusion of companionship and the necessity of embracing one’s own solitude. References to “heaven and hell” are metaphorical, describing inner landscapes of human experience, always traversed alone. The haunting refrain, “Are you still wondering why?”, challenges listeners to pause, reflect, and confront the solitary essence of existence.

With its dark alternative britrock tone, layered acoustic guitars, and evocative vocals, “Wondering Why” continues Clinamena’s exploration of existential themes through atmospheric, emotionally resonant music.

Available on all streaming platforms from 3rd December.

Giovanni Massaro
The stage name Clinamena originates from the deep interest of the Genoese singer-songwriter Giovanni Massaro in philosophy, particularly in the Epicurean concept of the clinamen. This concept represents an unpredictable deviation in the movement of atoms—a sort of random perturbation which, according to Epicurus, explains the formation of the world and natural phenomena. This idea of randomness and unpredictability is reflected in Clinamena’s music, which explores the depths of human existence and the human condition. His music stands out for an alternative britrock sound with dark undertones, clearly influenced by the Britpop of the 1990s. This musical genre, characterized by moody sonorities and meaningful lyrics, provides the perfect ground for exploring deeper existential themes. Clinamena skillfully blends darkness and positivity in his compositions, creating catchy choruses that convey profound messages while always encouraging the listener to overcome pain and embrace life. The new EP, "Lost", represents a further exploration of alternative rock and indie rock sounds, with strong British influences and a dark atmosphere reminiscent of artists like Nick Cave. The musical foundation, built around Giovanni’s acoustic guitar and voice, features folk shades with a dark country flavor, evoking mysterious and melancholic suggestions. This sonic base is then enriched by the contributions of the other band members, who add keyboards, electric guitars, bass, and drums to create a complex and engaging sound. Giovanni Massaro, with extensive experience in composition and numerous musical collaborations both in Spain (The Crow Project, Wax Wings) and in the UK (The 42), has refined his style over the years. His deep knowledge of musical culture, gained through international experiences and collaboration with other talented musicians, is clearly reflected in his music. Giovanni spent several years working in his brother’s recording studio in London, perfecting his sound and honing his compositions.
